Playing Hard

Three women, three separate lives, the same thing. Dorota is a prosecutor who answers for what she does while drunk by invoking her immunity, and her politician husband closes each incident down, though his patience is running out. Teresa is a children's surgeon who lost her family to drink; all that is left is the hospital, and one day she turns up there drunk as well. Magda is a student, a good one with a good job, so nobody interferes with how she likes to go out. In all three cases the people around them know, and in all three cases nobody does anything. Kinga Dębska directs the Polish film; eighty-eight minutes, with Agata Kulesza as Dorota, Dorota Kolak as Teresa and Maria Dębska as Magda. Its subject is drinking among women; that this has long been discussed in Poland as a men's problem is the film's starting point.
