These Daughters of Mine

Two sisters. Marta is in her forties, an actress, lives alone and carries herself as though she needs nobody. Kasia is a teacher, married with children, and looks like the orderly one until the smallest thing comes apart. Then their mother falls ill without warning. The two of them have to deal with the hospital, the house and their father. He is the man who ran the household all his life; now he is ill himself and everything is sliding out of his hands. In the same corridor the sisters end up saying things they have not said for years. Kinga Dębska directs the Polish film; eighty-eight minutes, with Agata Kulesza as Marta, Gabriela Muskała as Kasia and Marian Dziędziel as the father. Dębska wrote it out of what happened in her own family. It keeps comedy and a deathbed inside the same scene.
