What Poor Sasha Is About
Sasha is a little girl whose mother manages a bank; she never leaves work and will not even be home on New Year's Eve. Sasha finds a way to get her mother home: she will rob the bank. For that she finds a man just out of prison and asks for his help. At first the man does not take the girl seriously. Tigran Keosayan's film was made in 1997 and took its place in the Russian tradition of New Year films. Aleksandr Zbruev and Vera Glagoleva are in the cast. The tone is entirely family comedy, and the robbery plan proceeds by a child's logic. Behind it is the Russia of the time: new money, new banks and adults with no time for their children.
