Possible Loves

Sandra Werneck's film draws three separate lives out of a single evening. Fifteen years ago Carlos waited at a cinema for Júlia, the woman he loved, and she never came. The idea sits in that wait: something small and apparently negligible happens and the direction of a life changes. Fifteen years on we follow three versions of Carlos. In one he is caught between a lukewarm marriage and the wish for a great love; in another he is gay and puts passion above everything; in the third he has still not found love and moves through one collapsing relationship after another. The film never says which is the real one, and it does not set this up as a puzzle either. Murilo Benício plays all three.
