What Pretty Sweet Is About
The film is a showcase bringing together the skateboarders sponsored by two skate brands. There is no plot; in one section after another the skaters perform their own moves in the city, in parks and on stairs. Short comic scenes come in between. Productions of this kind have long been a tradition in skate culture: the film works both as an archive and as an invitation. The filming was spread over years, and the editing gives the result rather than showing how many attempts a single move took. The account presents skateboarding as much a way of living as a sport. The seventy nine minute American film by Ty Evans, Cory Weincheque and Spike Jonze was completed in 2012.
