Karthik Venugopalan's 2024 Tamil film follows a man working as a physical training teacher at a school. He believes his pupils can do something beyond examinations and tries to steer them towards their own interests. The conflict is with the school administration. An order built on exam results sees his approach as unnecessary; without declaring the teacher a hero, the narrative also shows that he cannot change the system alone. HipHop Tamizha Adhi leads and also composed the music. The tone is light, the humour plentiful and the emotional passages plainly underlined. The narrative follows a familiar pattern and goes nowhere unexpected. Who it's for: those who like Tamil school and teacher films. Who it's not for: viewers expecting the education system treated seriously; the film ties its solution largely to individual effort.
