Pufnstuf

A boy named Jimmy ends up on Living Island with a talking flute. Everything on the island is alive: the trees, the houses, the books. Jimmy makes friends with the inhabitants, but there is a problem: the witch Witchiepoo wants to steal the flute. What she is after is to impress the Witches' Council and be named witch of the year. Hollingsworth Morse's film came out of Sid and Marty Krofft's television series of the same name. Most of the characters are full-body puppets and the sets are deliberately overblown. Jack Wild plays Jimmy; he was known for his part in Oliver. Cass Elliot and Martha Raye are in it too. Today it is remembered mostly as an example of the visual language of the end of the sixties.
