Queen Mimi

The documentary follows the life of Marie Haist. Everyone calls her Mimi. She lost her home in her fifties. She took shelter in a laundromat in Santa Monica. On a rainy night the owner let her sleep there. She never left again. She lived in the shop for about twenty years. She spent her days helping the customers. In time she became a face the neighbourhood knew, and her fondness for pink and her sharp tongue set the tone of the film. One of those customers was the actor Zach Galifianakis, who rented a flat for her. Renée Zellweger furnished it. Mimi walked a red carpet in her eighties. Yaniv Rokah directed the seventy six minute documentary, an American production.
