What Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer Is About
There is a planet called Spectra, and all the colour and light in the universe comes from it. A princess seizes the planet to make a jewel of it for herself, and as Spectra dims everything goes dark. Rainbow Brite sets off with her horse Starlite. On the way they meet a boy named Krys and the wise Orin, who tells the two of them that their powers work only used together, not separately. And Murky Dismal and Lurky are after them as well, trying as always to steal Rainbow's colour belt. Bernard Deyriès directs the animation; eighty-five minutes, with Bettina Bush as the voice of Rainbow Brite. The character started as a line of greeting cards, then became a cartoon series, then this film: one of the eighties cases where the toys and the cartoon were sold as a single thing.
