Ram Teri Ganga Maili

Ganga lives with her brother near the source of the Ganges. One day she helps a group of students who have come from Calcutta. One of them, Narendra Sahay, has come to study the source of the river and to fetch holy water. The two are drawn to each other and they marry. As Narendra leaves he promises to return before long. Months pass and he does not come. Ganga gives birth to a son and, as soon as she is able, sets out for Calcutta. What she means to do is confront Narendra and secure a future for their son. The film tells the difference of class and a woman left alone with a promise. Mandakini and Rajiv Kapoor appear in Raj Kapoor’s hundred and seventy eight minute Indian film, completed in 1985.
