What Requiem for the American Dream Is About
Across interviews filmed over four years, Noam Chomsky sets out point by point how wealth and power came to be concentrated in very few hands: restricting democracy, campaign finance, weakening the unions, manufacturing consent. It also opens onto something personal, since he is looking back at his own history of activism at the same time. The seventy three minutes make the argument without simplifying it and without raising the volume, and the claim underneath is that the collapse of the middle class was a choice rather than an accident.
