Sacha Powell R Richard Ferreday What Roof Culture Asia Is About
The documentary follows a parkour team across the rooftops of the great cities of Asia. The film looks into what drives them to push the sport to such extremes and tells of the difficulties they meet while trying to shoot a feature entirely without permission. The account is not content to present the jumps as spectacle; it records the mental and physical preparation beforehand, the measuring and the backing out. The risk itself is not exalted as heroism. That the filming is done without permission becomes a subject of the film in its own right. Benj Cave and Toby Segar appear in the hundred and thirteen minute documentary, completed in 2017.
