Lorenz Meran is a writer. He is in his forties and gay. He lives in Berlin. He is going through a stretch where he cannot write. Then he has to return to eastern Switzerland. The reason is his mother Rosie. Rosie has grown old and needs care. She will not accept help from outside. She does not want a care home either. So Lorenz is stuck in Altstätten, the small town he came from. His mother’s own fight is hard enough on its own. Rosie will not be dictated to. She is trying to keep her dignity. Lorenz’s own reckoning begins at the same time. The film had six nominations at the Swiss Film Awards in 2013, and Sibylle Brunner was named best actress. Fabian Krüger also appears in the hundred and twenty six minute film, a Swiss production Marcel Gisler finished in 2013.
