Rosie

Paddy Breathnach's 2019 Irish film follows thirty-six hours in the life of Rosie, left homeless with her four children when the landlord sells the house. She phones hotels all day, takes the children to school, her husband works; nobody tells anyone. Roddy Doyle wrote the screenplay and the film's force comes from that: the dialogue explains nothing, the situation shows itself. The story takes place across a day and frames the crisis as routine rather than exception. Sarah Greene's performance carries not collapse but the effort to prevent it.
