What Roujin Z Is About
Eighty minutes of animation, written by Katsuhiro Otomo, who created Akira. The health ministry offers a technological answer to elderly care: a computerised bed that washes, feeds and toilets the patient. Mr Takazawa, who is bedridden, is chosen for the trial. Haruko, the nursing student who has been caring for him at home, does not trust the machine, because it takes no account of what a person feels. Then the bed starts moving on its own, and the film turns from satire into a mechanical nightmare.
