Run for Your Life

The documentary takes up Fred Lebow. Lebow was an immigrant who came from Transylvania. He was among the first generation of Jewish immigrants in his family. The New York City Marathon was his idea. Without him the race would never have been set up. The film tells of his attachment to running. His imagination and his determination are at the centre of the account. The race in time became one of the most widely run in the world. The work was made after Lebow’s death. The account is put together as a tribute to him. Neil Amdur and Tom Brokaw are among those who speak. The former mayor Abraham Beame is in the film as well, along with Bob Bright, in Judd Ehrlich’s American documentary of 2008, which runs ninety five minutes.
