Running the Sahara

The documentary follows three runners trying to cross the Sahara. The run goes from the west coast to the east. Charlie Engle from the United States is one of them. Ray Zahab from Canada is the second. Kevin Lin from Taiwan is the third. The journey takes a hundred and eleven days. The distance covered comes to some six thousand nine hundred kilometres. They reach the Red Sea on the twentieth of February 2007. A small crew travels with them the whole way. Heat, sand and exhaustion are the daily matter. The film deals with the mental side as much as the physical. The expedition was also meant to draw attention to the water problem in Africa, and Matt Damon, who narrates, was among its producers. James Moll directed the hundred and two minute documentary, an American production finished in 2007.
