Runway 34

Captain Vikrant Khanna is an experienced pilot with rather too much confidence. His flight from an international departure runs into trouble when visibility closes in on approach and the fuel runs low. The aircraft lands, nobody dies. The film really begins after that: the investigator Narayan Vedant wants to know exactly what happened in the cockpit that night. Ajay Devgn both directs and plays the captain. Amitabh Bachchan is the investigator, and the second half is essentially an interrogation between the two. The narrative works to keep the line between heroism and negligence blurred. The film is inspired by the 2015 Jet Airways Doha to Kochi incident, in which a flight made repeated landing attempts in poor visibility and both pilots were removed from duty afterwards. Who it's for: Viewers who like aviation thrillers and courtroom or inquiry scenes. Who it's not for: The tension of the first half turns into a verbal duel in the second and the pace drops. Aviation-minded viewers after technical accuracy will find some scenes strained.
