Ray's wife dies after a drug is pulled from the market, withdrawn by the company that makes it in order to block a cheaper generic. Ray loses the case and threatens the company's chief executive on live television. Some time later, on his way to meet a journalist who has contacted him, he is attacked on the subway. His daughter Rachel grows up beside him and the two go after the people responsible together. Brian Andrew Mendoza directed his first feature. Jason Momoa plays Ray and Isabela Merced plays Rachel. It went out on Netflix in 2021. What is most discussed about it is a large turn in the final half hour, which is not given away here. Opinion split at exactly that point: one side wrote that the twist pulls off something action films usually cannot, turning the story without angering the audience, while the other said it leaves the rest of the film not making sense. Who it is for: viewers who like action drama and father and daughter pairings. Who it is not for: anyone who cares about narrative consistency. Looked at again after the turn, several scenes do not hold their place.
