What S&M Judge Is About
In 1997 a case brought against a judge threw Belgium into uproar. The sadomasochistic relationship between Judge Koen A. and his wife Magda was taken into court and he was convicted for it. The press ran the story for days. The verdict wrecked both their lives: the standing gone, the career gone, the privacy gone with them. They did not separate, and they are still together today. Erik Lamens tells it from the wife's point of view. It is adapted from the real case and runs eighty-four minutes. What it is about is less sexuality than the way a private life gets taken apart in public.
