What Same Old Song Is About

A few weeks in the lives of several Parisians: a woman looking for a bigger flat, her younger sister who has finished a thesis and works as a tour guide, an estate agent hopelessly taken with her, a married man, another man trying to bring his family to the city. An ordinary web of relationships, until somebody stops mid-sentence and sings. The characters mime to the original recordings of famous French songs, and nobody finds it strange. Resnais openly credits the idea to Dennis Potter.
