What Sangharsh Is About

When a run of child abductions and killings in Mumbai proves impossible to solve, the file is handed to the federal service. The job goes to a trainee officer, Reet Oberoi. The trail leads to a man driven by a religious obsession, Lajja Shankar Pandey. To catch him, Reet has to ask for help from another criminal, one already in prison. Tanuja Chandra's film was compared with The Silence of the Lambs; the director rejected the comparison and said she had started from a similar unsolved case in India. Preity Zinta plays the officer, Ashutosh Rana the killer and Akshay Kumar the prisoner. Alia Bhatt appears as a child, playing Zinta's character young. The telling does not show the violence, drawing its tension from waiting.
