What Sealed Cargo Is About
A Newfoundland fishing boat goes to the aid of a damaged Danish sailing ship and tows her into a small village harbour. In time the skipper works out what he has brought home: a disguised German submarine supply ship with a hold full of torpedoes. He gathers his crew and the villagers and looks for a way to blow up both the ship and any U boats that come to meet her. Alfred L. Werker made it in 1951 from Edmund Gilligan's novel The Gaunt Woman. Dana Andrews plays the skipper and Claude Rains the stranger aboard, and the tension comes mostly from how small and iced in the place is.
