What Severina Is About
A melancholy bookseller who wants to be a writer becomes fixated on a woman who steals books from his shop. Her comings and goings settle at the centre of his life; then, learning that she steals from other shops as well, he is seized by jealousy and falls into a kind of delirium of love. The closer he comes the less she can be described; why she steals, what she values and who the older man she lives with is all stay unclear. The film deliberately blurs the line between the real and the invented, and also tells the man’s drifting away from his own life. Javier Drolas and Carla Quevedo appear in Felipe Hirsch’s hundred and three minute film, completed in 2017.
