What Shaolin Prince Is About

Two princes are separated at birth; one is raised by the prime minister, the other by three eccentric Shaolin monks. Both learn to fight, but by entirely different roads: one through the manners of the court, the other through the monks’ impossible methods. Twenty three years later they meet and stand together against the tyrannical ninth prince who took the throne by force. The film keeps its fights and its comedy inside one another; the section with the monks plays almost like a separate film and sets the tone for everything else. Ti Lung and Derek Yee appear in Tong Kai’s hundred minute Hong Kong film, completed in 1982.
