What Shogun's Shadow Is About

Takechiyo is the eldest son of the shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu and the rightful heir under the law. The trouble is that his father hates him; Iemitsu is ill, his mind has gone, and he keeps sending assassins. A group of swordsmen hired to protect the boy try to get him where he has to arrive, alive. Takechiyo is five years old, which means the whole tension of the film is one child being carried from one place to another. A Toei production directed by Yasuo Furuhata, a full scale jidaigeki. Ken Ogata, Sonny Chiba, Hiroki Matsukata and Tetsuro Tamba are in it, with a score by Masaru Sato.
