The photographer Tun and his girlfriend Jane hit a woman with their car one night and drive away. Afterwards white shadows start appearing in Tun's photographs. Jane investigates and learns the woman was Natre, whom Tun knew at university. Banjong Pisanthanakun and Parkpoom Wongpoom directed. The real subject is not the ghost but the reason for her: the photographs reveal that Tun and his friends raped Natre and that Tun recorded it. The discovery at the end became one of the most-cited images in the genre: a dropped camera catches Natre sitting on Tun's shoulders. That is what the neck pain and the weight he has been complaining about for months turn out to be. It grossed around 2.58 million dollars in Thailand and was the fifth-highest earner there in 2004. Rotten Tomatoes sits at 63 percent. It produced a long line of remakes: Telugu, Tamil and Hindi versions in India, an American remake in 2008 and an Indonesian adaptation in 2025. Who it is for: viewers who like Asian horror and ghost stories with a turn. Who it is not for: anyone troubled by rape at the centre of the narrative. The film uses it as the mechanics of punishment and goes into detail.
