Rudy Yellow Lodge, a tribal police officer on the Pine Ridge reservation, is a Lakota man who cannot cut the tie between himself and his older brother Mogie. Mogie was once the school football star, was wounded three times in Vietnam and has lived with drink since he came back; Rudy tries again and again to save him. During a murder investigation he sees that justice and the law are not the same thing and acts on his own against the liquor stores on the edge of the reservation. Iktomi, the trickster spirit of Lakota story, is also in the account and pushes Rudy towards his own reckoning. Chris Eyre’s eighty four minute American film was adapted from a novel by Adrian C. Louis. Eric Schweig plays Rudy and Graham Greene plays Mogie; it was completed in 2002.
