What Sleepy Eyes of Death 4: Sword of Seduction Is About
This time two women come after Kyoshiro: a Christian holy woman on the run and a cruel princess dependent on opium. That a band of ruthless smugglers also wants him dead is the least of his troubles beside them. The film is the fourth link in a series and keeps up its hero’s coldness and his belonging to nobody. The account takes place in the Edo period and holds its sword fights short and sharp. Among Japanese sword films of the sixties this series stood apart for its dark tone. Both women are built as threats, and that is the account’s own choice. Raizo Ichikawa plays the lead in Kazuo Ikehiro’s eighty seven minute Japanese film, completed in 1964.
