What Something to Remember Me By Is About
Irene lives with her father Mateo and her twenty two year old son David. The household is harmonious and happy, but there is one conflict: David, a brilliant architecture student, has decided to move in with his girlfriend Clara, who works a supermarket till. Irene, who thinks of herself as liberal, cannot understand a relationship she sees as this unequal. David finds the backing he needs for his plan in his grandfather. Mateo was a child during the Spanish Civil War; he lost his house and his entire family, and in his eighties he is still full of the wish to live. Then one day he comes home with heavy news. Patricia Ferreira’s hundred minute Spanish film was completed in 2005.
