Song from the Forest

Louis Sarno is an American. Years ago he heard a song on the radio. He followed the sound into the rainforest in Central Africa. He stayed where he arrived and never went back. There he lives among the BaAka community. For twenty five years he recorded their music. What he recorded runs past a thousand hours. In time he became part of the community. His son Samedi was born there and grew up there. Louis wants to keep a promise he made to his son. He takes him to America. In New York father and son go about together. Louis is no longer inside that world. Nor is the forest what it was; the outside has reached it too. The two of them return. Louis Sarno and Samedi Bokombe appear in the ninety eight minute documentary, a Central African and German production Michael Obert finished in 2014.
