What Stay Awake Is About
Two brothers live in a small town. Their names are Ethan and Derek. Their mother Michelle is struggling with addiction. What she takes is prescription medication. The brothers are trying to keep her going. On the nights she passes out they take her to hospital. In the car they sing so she will stay awake. The pattern repeats again and again. Each of them has a life of his own, though. Derek is chasing acting work. Ethan does well at school and has won a scholarship. They are caught between leaving and staying. The film is based on the director’s own experience. Wyatt Oleff and Chrissy Metz appear in the ninety four minute film, an American production Jamie Sisley finished in 2023.
