Steal a Pencil for Me

The year is 1943 and the Netherlands is under Nazi occupation. Jack is an accountant living in Amsterdam. He is an ordinary and quiet man. At a birthday party he meets Ina. Ina is twenty years old. She comes from a wealthy diamond trading family. Jack is taken with her from the first. His situation is complicated, though. He is poor and married to a woman called Manja. When the deportation of the Jews begins, all three are sent to the same camp. They end up living in the same barracks. Manja objects to Ina’s presence. Jack and Ina begin writing secret letters to each other. The ninety four minute documentary was directed by Michèle Ohayon. It is an American production finished in 2007.
