What Stolen Daughters: Kidnapped By Boko Haram Is About

In April 2014 a school in Nigeria was raided. Two hundred and seventy six girls were taken from the boarding school in the town of Chibok. The group responsible was Boko Haram. The case drew enormous attention worldwide. Some of the girls were released years later. The documentary is about what came afterwards. Those released were placed in protected houses in Abuja. There they study and live under supervision. Going home is not simple. The account gives what they lived through without going into detail. The film also shows a second group. In the camps at Maiduguri there are thousands more women and girls. Their story was never talked about. The documentary sets that difference out plainly. The seventy nine minute film rests on the women’s own accounts, a British production Gemma Atwal finished in 2018.
