What Straight-Jacket Is About
In the Hollywood of the 1950s, the film star Guy Stone has to marry a studio secretary in order to conceal that he is gay. Sally has no idea the marriage is an arrangement and turns his life upside down, and not long after the wedding Guy finds himself drawn to a writer named Rick. Richard Day wrote and directed the ninety six minute film from his own play as a pastiche of the Rock Hudson and Doris Day comedies, and it laughs its way through what the studio system of that era did to a person. A single photograph taken by a rival actor is enough to bring the carefully built façade down. Matt Letscher, Carrie Preston and Jack Plotnick star.
