What Strange Affair Is About

Louis is an ordinary man working at an advertising agency. A new director arrives at the firm: Bertrand Malair. He is charming, funny and everywhere at once. Louis is proud to have his attention. Malair takes his working hours first, then his evenings, then his home. Louis stops seeing his friends, neglects his wife, gives himself entirely to the job, and takes all of it for a privilege. His wife is the only one who sees what is happening, and recognises both the pathos and the danger in the man. Pierre Granier-Deferre directs, with Gérard Lanvin as Louis, Michel Piccoli as Malair and Nathalie Baye as his wife. A hundred and five minutes. Lanvin won the César for most promising actor for the part.
