Streets of Laredo

Texas, 1878. Three outlaw friends, Jim, Lorn and Wahoo, rescue the orphan Rannie Carter from cattle thieves, and then their paths separate. Lorn goes on to larger and larger robberies, while Jim and Wahoo join the Texas Rangers, reluctantly at first and then altogether. For the sake of their friendship all three try to avoid coming into direct conflict, but a reckoning begins to look unavoidable. Rannie, grown into a young woman, must choose between Lorn and Jim. The film builds the tension between friendship and the law inside the western mould. William Holden and Macdonald Carey appear in Leslie Fenton’s ninety three minute American film, completed in 1949.
