What The Guilty Are Among Us Is About
A necklace said to be very valuable is stolen from the mansion of a wealthy family in Istanbul. The household decides the thief must be someone inside the house. Suspicion turns at once on the people who work there, and the difference of class is plain in that turn. As the investigation goes on, the way the people in the house look at each other changes too. What comes out in the end is unexpected: the necklace is a fake. The film is not about the theft but about who gets accused. Metin Erksan asks about the relation between wealth and standing. The hundred and two minutes take place inside a single mansion. Belgin Doruk, Tamer Yiğit and Erol Taş appear in Metin Erksan’s Turkish film, completed in 1964.
