A short seaside holiday and two stories folded into each other: an adult couple and two children. Twelve year old Nic’s parents keep trying to reconcile and cannot get out of a fragile mutual dependency. Nic tries to handle his father’s violent outbursts inside the games he plays with the other children, and sets about teaching Marie, who is his age, how to feel nothing at all. In Rolando Colla’s film neither of them manages it; the joy and the pain of first love change them both. Summer here is not a holiday but a test.
