Suze

Linsey Stewart and Dane Clark's 2025 Canadian film follows Suze, left alone at home when her daughter goes to university. Her daughter's abandoned ex-boyfriend is stranded and his care falls to her, and the two do not like each other. The humour comes from that obligation. Suze does not want to look after the young man but cannot put him out; the narrative brings them slowly closer without carrying it anywhere romantic. Michaela Watkins leads. The tone is light and the narrative produces no large crisis; the real subject is coping with an empty house. The dialogue is dense and the playing measured. Who it's for: those who like Canadian independent comedy and character-driven narrative. Who it's not for: viewers expecting dense plotting; the film stays small in scale.
