What Sympathy for the Devil Is About
1992, Sarajevo is under siege and anything that moves is a target. Paul Marchand, a French war correspondent, tries to report from inside the city, to live in it and to fall in love in it, and the detachment his job requires keeps colliding with his anger at what is being done to the place. The film is adapted from Marchand's own book; he was actually there, and won the Bayeux prize for war correspondents in 1994. Guillaume de Fontenay spent fourteen years getting it to the screen.
