Melting glaciers, emptying seas and financial markets on the verge of collapse; the documentary takes all of it together with the idea of growth itself. Florian Opitz goes to different actors in the global economy, and investors, hedge fund managers, entrepreneurs, journalists and economists speak in turn. The film is divided into chapters, and the sections on the moral blindness of gross domestic product, on agriculture turning destructive, on finance detaching from the real economy and on automation each open with a quotation from Karl Marx. Anthony Scaramucci, who describes himself as an artist of capital, explains that an end to growth is unthinkable, while the economist Tim Jackson comments from the other side. The ninety five minute German production was released in 2018.
