Taste of Freedom

Varia is a young cook. She works at a café by the roadside. The cooking she trained in is fine cooking. Nobody there has any need of it. In the end she loses the job. She is cheerful and quick with an answer. She decides to get away from home. She is looking for somewhere to make something of herself. On the way she finds a book. It was written by Olha Franko. Franko is a forgotten name of Ukrainian cooking. The book changes how Varia sees things. She goes for what is local rather than what is in fashion. The film opened on 7 March 2024. Iryna Kudashova, Irma Vitovska and Tetiana Malkova appear in the hundred and sixteen minute film, a Ukrainian production Oleksandr Berezan finished in 2024.
