What The Accidental Tourist Is About
A man who writes travel guides and hates travelling loses his son, then his marriage, and meets the woman he hires to train his dog. Lawrence Kasdan never addresses the grief directly, showing it instead through the man's compulsion to order everything, so that how he packs a suitcase is the whole character. William Hurt uses almost no expression, which is the part rather than a failing. Geena Davis is the only loud element in the film and supplies its balance. It moves slowly and very little happens.
