What The Artist Is About
Jorge, forty years old, works as a nurse in a care home and looks after Romano, an old man who does not speak and can barely walk, with particular attention. He collects the drawings the old man makes, puts a folder together with his neighbour’s help and takes it to a respected gallery. The works are judged to be of great value, an exhibition opens, and the nurse suddenly finds himself inside the art world. Except that he is not the one who drew them. Mariano Cohn and Gaston Duprat look at what contemporary art measures value by, and at how a signature becomes worth more than the work. Alberto Laiseca and Sergio Pangaro appear in the hundred minute Argentine film, completed in 2009.
