The Baby's Room

A Spanish horror film. Juan and Sonia move with their new baby into a large old house. It was cheap; they learn why later. They put a monitor in the baby's room. A voice comes over it at night: someone is in the room and talking to the child. Juan goes up and the room is empty. Then he sets up a camera and sees himself on the screen; but the man in the image is not doing what he is doing. The idea is this: another family lives in the house, and the two families occupy the same place without seeing each other. The camera sees one side, the eye the other. While Juan tries to understand it his wife begins to doubt his mind and leaves. He stays in the house alone and starts following the world the screen shows him. It is one of a set of short films made for a television series; it runs about seventy minutes and concentrates on a single idea. Javier Gutiérrez plays Juan and Leonor Watling plays Sonia. Álex de la Iglesia directed. An interesting production for anyone who likes horror built on an idea. For a viewer expecting the measure of a feature, the film is short and leaves some lines open.
