What The Bank Is About

Jim Doyle is a mathematician working on a model that could see the movements of the stock market in advance. Simon O'Reilly, who runs one of Australia's large banks, takes him on; all the man wants is to make money out of the model. Another story is running on the lower floors of the same bank: the Davis family, behind on their loan, are having their house taken. As Jim rises inside the place, O'Reilly asks him for loyalty. What Jim will do is not clear from the start, because why he came to the bank is not clear either. Robert Connolly directs the Australian film; a hundred and four minutes, with David Wenham as Jim and Anthony LaPaglia as O'Reilly. It is Connolly's first film. Feeling against the banks ran high in Australia at the end of the nineties, and the film came out of that argument.
