The Blonde Witch

Brulard is a French civil engineer. His work sends him to a remote village in Sweden. There he comes across a young woman named Ina. Ina grew up alone with her mother deep in the forest. She believes herself to be a witch. The villagers see her the same way. Brulard falls in love with her. He tries to bring her round to his own world and its habits. That effort is not easy for either of them. Meanwhile Kristina, who is his boss, has become attached to him. The distance between the two women builds the tension of the story. The village turns its back on the engineer. The people there believe that Ina is cursed by the Devil. The man who keeps her company is looked at the same way. The forest stands in the film almost as a presence of its own. The story carries love, superstition and exclusion side by side. Marina Vlady and Maurice Ronet appear in the ninety seven minute film, a French and Swedish co-production André Michel finished in 1956.
