The Blue Villa

The Blue Villa stands on a Mediterranean island. The building is a brothel. The people on the island are frightened. The reason is the return of a young man. He had disappeared years before. Before he vanished a young woman had been killed. Now his return is met as if a ghost had come back. The account moves along inside that uncertainty. The film runs mystery, drama and crime together. The island is the closed setting of the account. The killing left in the past is the knot of the story. Who knows what stays uncertain to the end. Fred Ward and Arielle Dombasle take the leads in the Belgian, French and Swiss coproduction of 1995 by Dimitri de Clercq and Alain Robbe-Grillet.
