The Candidate

The film takes place during an election campaign. The campaign runs two months. The office being contested is the presidency. The country is not named. A man has been hired as the narrator. His job is to listen to conversations and record them. He does not know who he is working for. Among the people he follows is a bishop. The owner of an advertising agency is on the list too. But the real target is the candidate himself. The candidate is called Peter Potôň. The man is ordinary and colourless. At first the job seems interesting. But it turns into disgust and confusion over time. His diary turns into a file. Marek Majeský and Monika Hilmerová take the leads in Jonáš Karásek’s Czech and Slovak coproduction of 2013.
